My experience with the CBSE Heritage India Quiz

First and foremost, I am an Indian. I am proud to be a part of my family, school and country. So, what else can I do other than joyfully participate in a quiz on India's Heritage?

For those who haven't guessed yet, I participated in the CBSE Heritage India Quiz along with Sunay and Manav, my teammates.

Launched in 2001, the CBSE Heritage India Quiz is an annual quiz conducted by the CBSE to test students' knowledge of Indian Culture and Heritage.

This year, I (Sugeeth), Sunay (Class 11), and Manav (Class 9) represented our school in the quiz.

The theme for this year's quiz is "Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav" (celebrating India's 75th Independence day), encompassing various aspects of our history and culture. Each school should send a team of three students, who will participate and represent the school for this quiz.

This quiz consists of three rounds. In the first round, the team has to attend an online test. The top 30 schools in each region will qualify for the next round. The second round will be a contest between these 30 teams. Only one of the teams will qualify from the region for the final round. The final round will consist of one team from each region. These teams will compete against each other in two phases, telecasted online. The winning team will get a cash prize of ₹1,25,000.

On 15/11/22, the first round went online! We had to download a PDF, which contained the questions for the exam. The participants had to choose the correct answers in the PDF and upload the PDF to CBSE within an hour of the start time.

Each question was picture-based and included questions from Indian Independence, Literature, Pre-Mughal history, Geography, Religion, Movies and GK. Some of them were puzzles, while others were case-based! Overall, we had to carefully answer the questions, which took us a lot of time! The 60 questions were jam-packed with information, and my team read over each question multiple times before answering.

The questions had a few clues with a picture, with which we had to select the correct answer from the four options given.

In the end, the quiz was fun and gave us many insights into Indian History and Culture. I thank the principal, the school management, the teachers and, of course, my team for giving me such an opportunity to learn more about India.
